Q:What the hardest kind of public event to organize?

A:The ones where a sit-down meal is part of the event because you're mixing so many different people, many of whom don't know one another. As the chairperson you care about making them comfortable and you want the table to be full of lively conversation. I always tell volunteers that the hardest committee job is making up the tables. You can never please everyone with where they are seated. You just can't. And then there are the last-minute additions and the guests who show up and change their place cards because they want to sit someplace else.

For one class we have to develop a business plan. At the opening of a French bistro restaurant and the first week of gifts rather like party favors.
