All is well, yet I do not believe this young woman is invulnerable. Six years
ago she was a gauche and touchy Sloane. She wanted her prince but was
clueless on parade duty, shifting around like a reluctant member of the
choir hoping to find someone to eat sweets with under the pew (Harry,
probably.) But once reunited with Prince William after their 2007 split,
someone took her under their wing, presumably with Princess Diana’s
struggles in mind.
The chin went up, the smile in place and with each public appearance she has
looked ever more comfortable. I think she has been trained to cope with, not
cured, of her insecurities. Self-doubt is likely still there, dormant. For
this reason the creepy contrasts with Diana, encouraged by obsessed fans
expecting a Lazarean miracle, must stop. They know full well that such
exposure and expectations can be fatal.
