MARTINSBURG - Martinsburg's War Memorial Park is expected to attract thousands of visitors once again this year as the 24th annual June Jubilee ushers in the summer season Sunday with loads of fun activities for the whole family to enjoy.
Started more than two decades ago as a way to showcase improvements to the local park, which is dedicated to Berkeley County veterans of foreign wars, June Jubilee has exponentially grown over the years, regularly drawing several thousand visitors and becoming the park's premier event.
"I think the big feature that we have is that it's a free event. There's no parking fee, there's no admission fee and people can come and bring their whole family and just enjoy the day," said Ted Morgan, June Jubilee chairman and Martinsburg-Berkeley County Parks and Recreation board member. "It's to bring people out to the park. ... It grew and grew and grew because more people came, so we added more events and activities and more features.
